Adnet Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
Adnet is a contextual advertising network operated by GeistM Inc. ("GeistM", "we") at
adnet.geistm.com. This policy covers the Adnet service: the ad delivery endpoints,
the Exchange (matcher), the GeistM AI service, and the GeistM Adnet WordPress plugin's use of them.
It does not cover the websites that show Adnet ads; each publisher has its own privacy policy.
The short version: Adnet chooses ads from what a website says about itself, not from a profile of the person reading it. We set no cookies, build no cross-site profiles, sell no personal data, and share nothing with other advertising networks.
Visitors to sites that show Adnet ads
When a page with Adnet ad slots loads, the Adnet client script requests ads from our servers. Each ad view and ad click is recorded as evidence for the advertiser's campaign. With each request we receive:
- the page address (path) where the ad appeared, and the referring page address your browser sends;
- your browser's user-agent string, from which we derive a coarse device type and browser name;
- a random identifier the script stores in your browser's local storage (
adnet_vid). It is generated on your device, is specific to the site you are visiting, and is not linked to your name, email address, or any account. It lets us recognize repeat views on that site and detect invalid traffic; - your IP address, which every web request carries. It is used to deliver the response and to protect the service. It is not stored in ad view or click records.
We do not set cookies, use fingerprinting, collect names, email addresses, or precise location, or combine Adnet data with data from other sites or brokers.
You can clear the identifier at any time by clearing your browser's site data for the website you visited. Blocking the Adnet script stops ads from loading; the rest of the site keeps working.
Campaign settlement
Each Adnet campaign is a smart contract on the Polygon public blockchain. Periodically, verified view and click evidence is settled to the campaign's contract as aggregate counts and cryptographic hashes. Those on-chain records are public and permanent, and contain no personal data: no IP addresses, identifiers, or page addresses.
Publishers using the WordPress plugin
- Network registration. When a site administrator enables Adnet or clicks "Check & Connect",
the plugin sends the site's domain name to the Exchange (and to the Epistery discovery index). We read the
site's public, signed
/.well-known/aideclaration to match campaigns to its declared topics. - Site wallet. The plugin creates a wallet on the publisher's own server. We only ever receive its public address, which identifies the site as a payee. The private key never leaves the publisher's server.
- GeistM AI service. When an administrator clicks "Summarize with AI", the plugin sends the site name and tagline, the text of its About and Contact pages, its published page titles, domain, and wallet address. We forward that text to Anthropic's Claude API to draft the summary and return the result. We keep only a usage counter per wallet and month (with request nonces to prevent replay), not the site content. Anthropic processes the request under its Commercial Terms and Privacy Policy.
How we use data
To deliver and match ads, to count and verify views and clicks for campaign settlement and publisher payouts, to detect fraud and invalid traffic, to report aggregate campaign performance to advertisers and publishers, and to operate and secure the service. We do not sell personal data or use it for cross-site behavioural advertising.
Sharing
Advertisers and publishers see aggregate performance for their own campaigns and sites. We use hosting and infrastructure providers to run the service, and Anthropic for the AI service as described above. We may disclose information when required by law. We do not share data with other advertising networks or data brokers.
Retention
View and click records are kept as long as needed to settle campaigns, pay publishers, and resolve disputes, and are then deleted or reduced to aggregates. Operational server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data about you, or to object to its processing. Because Adnet does not know who you are, the random identifier in your browser is how we can find records about you. Contact us with it (your browser's developer tools show it under local storage for the site), or simply clear it to start fresh.
Children
Adnet is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We will post changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
